Naturalist and broadcaster Dennis Furnell was born in London, spent his childhood in the West Country, and began his natural history career with the RSPB film unit in 1956. He's been involved with national and international conservation ever since; broadcasting for the past 21 years on BBC and Independent Radio and on BBC television, Channel 4 and The Discovery Channel – as well as producing and presenting Nature's Way for Anglia TV. He was also instrumental in helping to set up the Visual Language Media Group, a television training facility for people with hearing impairment...
Ann Furnell, born in Brixham, Devon is a researcher and editor. Now living in Hertfordshire, together they have written seven books and more than one million words in commissioned feature articles. Married for 40 years, with one son, Robin, daughter-in-law Natalie and two grand-daughters, Yasmin and Isla, they are enthusiastic travellers with diverse interests, and have led several natural history holidays in Europe.
First introduced to France a little over 30 years ago by friends who lived in the Auvergne, they were captivated by this lovely country and its incredible wildlife – and are currently working on the third book in The Nature of France series – wanting to communicate their fascination and delight in the landscape, history, culture, food and wine.
